LAAIA Partners with Holtz Children’s Hospital to Improve Sick Children’s Quality of Life with a Creative Arts Studio

LAAIA and Holtz Children’s Hospital will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 9th in honor of their new Creative Arts Studio for children.

Miami, FL: On Saturday, December 9th, 2017 Holtz Children’s Hospital will honor the Latin American Association of Insurance Agencies for their support and gracious donation as they cut the ribbon for their newest space, a Creative Arts and Activity Studio.

In late 2015, LAAIA (the Latin American Association of Insurance Agencies) committed to raising $150,000 for the Child Life Services Department at Holtz Children’s Hospital to build a state-of-the-art Creative Arts and Activities Studio for the resident children. Roughly seventy pediatric patients reside at Holtz Children’s Hospital, many of whom are unable to go home for holidays or spend time with their families outside of the hospital.

The Creative Arts and Activities Studio will be equipped with a fully functioning recording studio, a designated space for creative arts like drawing, painting, and sculpture, and also boasts a mini-photo studio for portraits. Now, the kids will have access to Music Therapists who can help them cope with their medical conditions via writing, producing, and sharing their music, collaborate with volunteer artists in a hands-on environment, and take pictures in a studio setting.

“We are working very closely with the hospital’s construction and design teams on refining the details and ensuring this project offers the children at Holtz the best available resources,” says LAAIA’s current Charity Chair, Lissette Perez “We are looking forward to its completion in the upcoming months!”

The Creative Arts and Activities Studio aims to help children cope with their medical conditions in a thoughtful, creative way—offering respite from difficult procedures like Bone Marrow and Organ Transplants, Cancer Treatments, and Trauma Injuries.
